Cinnamon Sugar Scones

Money Saving Mom posted a scone recipe earlier this week that I finally got around to trying.  They are wonderful and so very easy!!  Here is the basic recipe:

Cinnamon Sugar Scones
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, separated
3 Tbs honey
1/3 cup milk
1/2 tsp lemon juice

Cinnamon Sugar Topping
1 - 2 Tbs sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Glaze
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 tsp milk (or enough to make the glaze)

Combine dry ingredients and mix in butter until crumbly.  Separate egg and set egg white aside.  Mix egg yolk, honey, milk and lemon juice and add to dry ingredients.  Mix until a soft dough forms.  Form a dough ball and place on a cookie sheet.  (I lined mine with parchment paper to make it easy to remove.)  Shape the dough into a circle of about 8 inches.  Cut into equal size triangles (OK, so mine weren't exactly equal.)  Whisk egg white and brush top of the dough with the egg white.  Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top of dough.  Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.  When you remove it from the oven, drizzle the glaze over the top.
